Recent photos in WPMU

I am experimenting with the Balck Canvas theme in order to make it availiable to users in a WPMU installation. It works fine except for "Recent photos", just displaying links in this test-setup: http://madsbaron.medie-x.com

I am following all the create post guidelines according to the Black Canvas tutorial.

The theme cache folder in Tools remains empty after trying out various permission settings, absolute and relative image URLs.

I guess some sort of WPMU-fix is needed, but what and where?
