Sidebar Question

Ok so I've looked through all the sidebar posts and tried to tweak my site but am not getting the results so.... Here's my question:

1) I want my "recent posts" to show up where the enews & updates is. I tried adding it through the WP widgets menu and no go. I then cut recent post code and replaced it where the enews & udpates but no go it just weirds out the theme. How do I do this?

2) I want my featured video to only show up on the home page. What's the most straightforward way to achieve this?
