Removing Sidebars?

I apologize in advance, but I'm still somewhat new to Wordpress. I just purchased all the new R2 themes (using Church 2.0), but have a question regarding sidebars/widgets.

I recently added the SimplePressForum plugin. Works great, however I want to get rid of the default sidebars/widgets.

So I guess my question is, how can I customize what sidebars and/or widgets get displayed in certain pages and posts? Either by getting rid of the sidebar/widgets completely, or customizing different widgets for different pages/posts.

I hope I'm making sense with my questions?!?! ;-)
