One big photo...and archives

Hi

On the main page I just want to display one big photo, nothing else, except the navigation. What code do I strip out to allow me to do this?

I want an archives page that only shows the thumbnails for my posts (like the recent photos strip at the bottom, but a whole page of them). Is it possible?
