Japanese characters error

Hi,
I would like to change English text to Japanese text in PHP files.
I can input Japanese from admin.
Usually utf-8 can show Japanese characters.
But If I input Japanese chatacters directly in PHP file, they were completely garbled.

Could you tell me how I can use Japanese characters in PHP files?
