Removing the Category from URLs

Using 2.7 release, I set up my permalink with the custom structure /%postname%/

However, my posts are still showing up with the url: http://www.domain.com/category/postname

It looks like the custom structure has a bug, but that's probably impossible.

So how do I prevent the category from showing up in the URL?

(my theme is Revolution Streamline)

PS: I want to set the default up right. Not edit the slug for each post.

PSS: I don't want to install some other plugin. I have All In One SEO installed, but not for this reason.
