How do I define a Default Thumbnail

I'm aware that I have to add the UDF "thumbnail" to each post, but on the road I dont have the Chance to add UDF's to new Articles I write with my iPhone-App. Is it possible to define a Default Thumbnail for new Posts somehow? My Goal is to use the Featured Box on the Bottom of my Blog which I have assigned for a "On the Road" Category (allready works great), but there is no Thumbnail for new Articles and you allways see that "red cross" for the missing picture in the Browser. Any Hints?
