theme installed but appearance is missing all images and correct layout

I am very new to the website world, so i could of done anything wrong, but am learning quickly and think i will make full use of these forums.

I have installed the tubular theme via ftp and it comes up in the appearance>themes tab (without a thumbnail though),... but when i activate (or preview) it, all i get is the bare bones basic text with a plain white background, no images, no background, no sidebar...?

i have tried re-installing the tubular files but same deal again. i checked the folders and all the images/backgrounds etc are uploaded with the theme, it seems to be there....

Help would be appreciated...

Using wp 3.0 on a mac, safari 5.0
