Seperate BLOG

Hi,

I have searched for hours but cannot find the answer:

My main page is made up of posts in various categories about other websites like a directory. Now I would like a seperate BLOG page so I can write more informally etc and have rss feeds

I have written 2 blog post in categories under the name BLOG but I want my blog to appear as a page on the main index .

I have set up a PAGE, called it BLOG, clicked on the blog style and I get this message:

Index of /blog
Parent Directory

I know I'm missing the point and over or under complicating things! Do I have to set up another template or something?

Appreciate help/point in the right direction.
