Ticker or scroller widgets

Good evening

I am looking to incorporate a ticker or scroller into the side nav for a client.

They want a good clean classic look to it and want to be able to send individual posts to it when a category is set ie Ticker.

I have looked at the Announcement and vertical scroll news plug in from http://gopi.coolpage.biz/demo/2009/0...l-scroll-news/

but it does not have the ability to use content from a post. ( unless i have missed it)

Does anyone have any thoughts on a tweak for this plugin or another more flexible option?
