Features running verticle and not horizontal

I have a question, which will probably be the first of several. I just began using the news theme on my site http://www.vafirenews.com/index.php . However, the features are showing on the left and news sections on the left. I would rather have the features across the top as in the demo. Please let me know how to move the news sections below so the features will run across the top as they should. While you are at it, if you want to tell me what I am doing wrong with the features let me know. I cannot get the proper categories to show up on the features. I read one of the topics and it said that the categories are given a numeric id if you roll your mouse over them in the manage/categories but mine only give the name of the category.
