Default How to Use the XML File to Import the Demo Site's Content

I've been asked many times how people can install the demo theme's content onto a fresh installation of WordPress so that they can work backwards to understand how the themes are configured. You can download a copy of the XML file in the download section for each theme.

What you need to do is follow the instructions that are taken from the Importing Content page from the WordPress website. To import from a WordPress export file into a WordPress blog follow these steps.

Step #1
Log into that blog as an administrator.

Step #2
Go to Tools: Import in the blog's admin panels.

Step #3
Choose "WordPress" from the list.

Step #4
Upload this file using the form provided on that page.

Step #5
You will first be asked to map the authors in this export file to users on the blog. For each author, you may choose to map to an existing user on the blog or to create a new user.

Step #6
You will then have the choice to import attachments, so click on the "Download and import file attachments" box.

Step #7
WordPress will then import each of the posts, comments, and categories contained in this file into your blog.

Important
Please note that if you are using the Agent, Church, Education, Lifestyle or Streamline themes, that you will need to save the thumbnail images we have on the homepage as the TimThumb auto-size script can only work if the images are hosted on the server it's running.
