I have asked this before, but didn't make myself clear, so I will try again as I'm very close to attempting this.
I have a static site and am switching over to wordpress using Genesis / lifestyle theme. I set up a folder within - mysite.com - named "blog" and installed wordpress in it for testing and redesigning purposes. If one enters - mysite.com - they land on the old static site. If one enters - mysite.com/blog - they land on the new version I want to switch too. I have taken care to name all the pages (in blog folder) to exactly match the original static site as it holds many page 1 rankings and I can't afford broken links from serps to site. I now want all serp results that pointed to mysite.com to display the new wordpress version. I'm guessing I would now need to install wordpress in mysite.com. Whats the best way to make this transfer without breaking the original site for more than 15 minutes, or better yet, not at all. Thanks in advance. |
