Question about the embedded video

So I have catch 22 situation.

I set the custom "embed" tag and the video shows on the front page. But it is not showing when you click the link to go to the sub page. So I put the embed code inside the post, and the video showed up twice on the front page.

I looked thru the documentation and didn't see anything. What am I missing?
