468x60 ad space between posts and comments

I have ads in this space and it works fine, but have a quick question. I have a few posts that are required to be ad-free so was wondering if there's any way to tweak things so that these ads won't display for certain posts? Like posts in a specific category? I only see the display options as yes or no in the theme options, but don't know if there's a way to do this in the actual code itself.
