Different Sidebar on home page

I've read that to pull in a different sidebar you need to use:

<?php get_sidebar('sidebar_number1.php'); ?>

where 'sidebar_number1.php' is the name of the sidebar you want. I have eneterd this into the home.php file and it doesnt work. Any ideas? I am wanting a different sidebar on the home page but the standard sidebar is fine for the rest of the site
