Default Enlarging the Header Area

Hi There,
This is my first time using a Genesis theme and I'm having trouble expanding the height of the header area. I've done this with Classic themes, but I guess this is more complex.

In styles.css, when I increase the height of #header .wrap and #title-area, it enlarges those areas, it increases the height of those finite regions, but not the entire header region across the page. And #header doesn't come with a height style.

So what am I missing? Thanks!
