Adding forum

Hello,

I want to add a forum to my site, it is built of course in WP 2.6.3 and the theme is Revo Chrome.
What kind of forum would you suggest considering usability, integration with wordpress and features. Maybe the same you use here at the support forum? Which one it is? I need to buy plugins?
Once I integrate the forum, is it possible to add a "Latest Forum post's" at home page? At the left side? I mean, creating a new "box" .

I understand this is pushing a little bit, I don't want you to tell me exactly how to do it, I just need some info please.
