Pingdom is timing out images that do appaear in link?

Default Pingdom is timing out images that do appaear in link?
I am using a Studio Press child theme purchased via Theme Garden. But this is a general (technical) WP question.

I am having very slow loading times. Pingdom is reporting time outs on image links- Processing was stopped because timeout exceeded.

However, when I click the image link, the image is there, on my server (and it is a small image.)

Any ideas what the problem may be?
