New to word press, new to themes

Ok I'm a noob. I've never run a wordpress site, but I want to give it a shot for my business and I like the way the Office theme looks so I bought it.

Why are there no pictures to the left of each post....even though I have pictures in the stories?

I intend not to have comments. But I thought wordpress would be good for my site. As I get a new project, I can easily make a new post about it. I don't have to worry about contacting a web guy to have him/her make the update.

Please help.
