Default Does Google XML Sitemap plug-in cover page updates?

I was wondering if anyone knows if the plug-in Google XML Sitemaps handles the following and if it does not is there a plug-in that does.

Essentially, I have site setup, www.forkliftu.com, that I'm developing and have it so new blog posts not only appear on the blog, but also on corresponding pages. For instance, if I post something about forklift training, that post will also appear the forklift training page (which utilizes the blog page template - thanks Nick for that work-around). However, I wonder if the sitemap is reflecting the fact a new post has appeared on an individual page.

Also, I was wondering about comments - whenever someone posts a new comment to an older post, does the sitemap show a flag to the googlebot to re-crawl that page?

Thanks for any insight on this topic.
