how do I remove the word "uncategorized" in the subnav

I am using this theme as a static site and do not have any use for individual blog postings.

under every page, within the subnav I have the word "uncategorized". How do I remove this word in the subnav?

I tried to delete the "uncategorized" category but WP doesn't allow me to do this
