Changing the featured posts on the homepage

Hello-
I am having difficulty figuring out how to change the homepage featured posts area to pull posts from a specific category. I want to have the posts pull from a featured posts category vs. pulling from the latest posts on the blog, regardless of category. I am sure this is something simple that I am missing, but I am a newbie at this.

The area on the homepage that I am trying to change is contained within the following code:
