Is it just plug and play if upgrading?

I see that the code to insert for gallery placement is the same as v1. If I deactivate v1 and delete, can I just upload v2, and have the plugin work where I had the gallery before assuming I fill in the dimension fields to match what my v1 gallery was and update relevant posts to make sure the are in the 'featured' category?

Also, I modded my .css to give my gallery a colored border. Will these .css attributes still play nice with the v2 of this plugin?
