Private Messages - Still sitting in box unsent

I responded to some private messages and the posts are still sitting in my outbox. Is there a time delay or batching process going on?

Also when I click on some of the links to contact a preferred expert the message gets pre-filled with text that describes the experts offerings. Is this to be expected?
