A couple of days ago I discovered a potentially useful provider of free news and photo images with a huge repertoire of images. This is called http://www.fotoglif.com This is potentially a very good resource for individual bloggers. There is fairly attactive looking link to the fotoglif site at the bottom of each image. The only problem with this resource is that with some Revolution themes it is hard to get the image to align right because the alignment provided by the fotoglif image server scripts. Here is where some advice on how to make these images align properly in Revolution themes would be welcome.
This free service provides registered users with a script they can use in blog posts or web pages that will display an attractive photo on your site. However these images come in only three sizes that cannot be altered and which may or may not fit well within the standard width of some blog themes like Revolution City or Revolution Church. The medium sized image provided by fotoGLIF.com will appear too far to the left in posts that use these themes. This is probably because of something in the style.css file of these themes. It appears that the stylesheet for these themes will not allow the image to be centered even when one chosed the center image option for creating the script that is used by this image provider. On the other hand because of the narrower column width for individual posts and blog posts in the Code Blue theme, the same medium sized image will appear aligned perfectly in the center when one uses Code Blue (or other themes that have narrower columns). I am wondering if there is a way to tweak the stylesheet for Revolution Church, Revolution City, and other similar themes so that it will allow for the images provided by fotoGlif and similar image servers. Here is the url for a post that usese Revolution Church where the image is not properly aligned and is forced to the left. http://globalgeopolitics.net/ed/2008/11 ... st-of-war/ Here is the url for a post that uses the fotoglif image sever, where the image appears properly aligned in the center of a post. This post uses a theme with a narrower single post column width and possibly a style that does not force images to the right or left. http://globalpoliticsonline.com/ed/2008 ... st-of-war/ This latter url is for a site that I use to test various themes and web resources for possible use on real sites. If anyone can provide ideas or a bit of code on how to make the images provided by this service align properly, it would be most appreciated. I think this could also be of great benefit to many bloggers using the Revolution themes, who want to have some up to date photos or news images for their site. The range of photos provided by fotoglif free of charge is quite amazing. Thanks for any help you can give. Alan F. Sample of fotoGLIF image script. This is a medium sized image that is supposed to be aligned in the center of a post or layout division. I notice today that the box at the bottom of the image seems to be displaying a banner ad. <div style="float: center; margin-left: 5px;"><IFRAME FRAMEBORDER=0 MARGINWIDTH=0 MARGINHEIGHT=0 SCROLLING=NO WIDTH=484 HEIGHT=386 SRC="http://new.fotoglif.com/embed/embed.py?hash=nmrmdcgrw8ne&size=medium&imageuid=43 0958&layout=landscape"></IFRAME></div> Some how the last line of this script appears too wide to fit in the display of this post, but it does appear in the edit version. Here is part of the code that is missing to the right. hash=nmrmdcgrw8ne&size=medium&imageuid=430958&layo ut=landscape"></IFRAME></div> |
