Problems Creating Blog Page

I read the general tutorial topic on "How To Create a Blog Page on Your Site" but I can't seem to make it work.

I've created a page and selected the Blog page template. I've gone into page_blog.php and changed cat=1 to cat=538, the id for the blog template page. But..... nothing shows up on the page. Am I missing something?

The site is http://www.englishsaddleguide.com and you can see the link to the blog page in Sidebar2.
