Parallel Themes?

Hello - I am re-doing a site that is currently in Atahualpa and moving it to Outreach (Genesis). Has anyone had luck using a parallel theme plugin that lets you customize the new theme while the old one stays live to the public?

I installed Parallel Theme Switcher but it isn't working for me. (could be I don't get it!)

Or, other way to make this work?
