Default wordpress setup - www or naked domain?

This may be a beginner question for most of the folks on this forum, but I'm wondering if there is a preference for domain format choice when setting up Wordpress. I.e. should I go with the www version = http://www.URL.com, or the naked version = http://URL.com?

I have to make a choice both at Wordpress installation on my hosting platform (Bluehost / Simplescripts) as well as within the Wordpress General Settings after installation.

Does the choice affect anything (like SEO)? Why would I choose one over the other?

Thanks for shedding some light, and have a great day!
