Default Registering Users and What they can access

Hey all,

I am looking to give users the ability to register on my site, but not have access to the dashboad. Instead, I would like them to just be able to view certain pages on the site.

I.E. User comes and registers, now they can see the page "Secret Page" on the nav.

Also, I am running a phpbb forum attached, and if there is a way to integrate the two that would be awesome. Meaning someone registers on the site, and it registers them for both. Or they register for the forum, and it gets them access to those pages. Either way they authenticate is fine.

Thoughts?
