Using Genesis with Theme Test Drive

First-time Genesis user here :)

I was wondering if I could use Genesis plus a child theme along with the plugin called "Theme Test Drive" - so that I could make my modifications on the backend while making the frontend of my site viewable to visitors as it has always been?
