Child Theme Development: Updates

When developing a child theme for Genesis, is there a standard way for disseminating update notices?

Example: Release 1.0 of the child theme, 1.1 comes out.
How do developers here currently let everyone know that there's a new version?

I have code to pull tags and stuff from GitHub if need be, but figured I would ask before implementing it.
