Author Link when Clicked Goes to Home Page

Author Link when Clicked Goes to Home Page

When I click the post's author link it goes to the home page. I have checked the user nice name in phpMyAdmin and it is correct (lower-case with dashes). I have changed the permalinks to default. But none of this works. When I hover over the link I can see in the link address in the place the browser shows links that it is correct...http://website/author/author-name/, but it still goes to the home page. Any thoughts?
