Typing content in wordpress is slow

Ever since I began using word press, I find that most times when I enter content
by typing it in directly, the response is slow. it takes a second and sometimes even two seconds
to respond by displaying input. I can end up to 5 characters ahead of what is displayed.

The result is lots of typing and grammar errors. So I spend more time editing, which is also slow
The other option is to do it in word then copy and paste in bits since the text size also gets distorted if I copy and paste it all at once.
The Paste from word button results in a very small text size and I haven't found a way to change that.
