Can you disable 'comments' on some posts but not on others?

I am a bit disappointed

I've built 7 sites lately - 6 for one client and I used posts which activated a plugin called tag pig - those sites have hundreds of indexed pages within days.

The new site built for a client has pages for static company promo and the blog would feature posts

I am astonished this blog is weeks old and none of the pages are indexed. I am going to assume this is due to the plugin actions of tag pig

I am prepared to convert every page to a post (I know there is a plugin that will do that quickly but I think it caused probs on another site) - but I want the main site pages to have no comments and the blog posts to have comments

Do you have any way of getting around this problem?
