Remove Category/ Slug

Trying to remove the category/ slug from the URL when I hit the category buttons at the top.

Tried installing the plugin No Categories and it did not work.

See example...

Want it to read...

http://codingthis.com/platforms/ec2

P.S. Was going to use redirection plugin after the fact, if there are any known issues here, like to know the solution as well...
