blog order

Is there anyway to separate my blogs on my page. Either by categories or can I make a new page and post blogs under this page, how will they show on my home page?

I am trying to place a categorized listing of say 1) favorite apps 2) favorite free apps, etc. Is this possible? Do I place some code in home.php, to allow for a break and a new category title, if so please let me know.
