Default IDX Hurt SEO or Help SEO?

Hey everyone, there are some very big conversations about this on other websites and I want to get everyones input from here.

With Google's duplicate content algorithms Google is trying to penalize webpages that have 'substantially similar content'. So the question becomes: Does Google see IDX listing pages as duplicate content? Considering there are thousands of agents in any given are with the same IDX listings on their websites?

After reading around a bit it still seems a toss up to me. I would like to think it isn't detrimental if you wrap your idx area with good custom content. My other thought is maybe it would be wise to exclude spiders from the majority of the idx listings and maybe grant the spiders access to 'area pages', 'my listings' and more manageable listings. Now tell me what you think!
