cannot remove date from posts

Hi, please could someone help in 'plain English' please!

Have installed 'Simple Hooks' plus but don't know what to do with it. Have put in:

/** Remove the post info function */
remove_action( 'genesis_before_post_content', 'genesis_post_info' );

at bottom of theme editor, but nothing happens. Why is this so vague in instructions? Those of us not good with code need a more simpler explanation! Thanks for your help.
