Change Color of Bloc Quote Background

I have seen some blogs that show a cool looking gray, yellow, or whatever color that they put their quotes in. I know we click on that big Quotation mark to indent a quote and put it in the what I refer to as the "quote box" but how do we change the background color of that box? Mine is juts plain white and you can't really tell the difference with it.
