Sidebar Forced Down

I searched the forums to find out how to add a comment section to my pages, and I found ...

        <div class="postcomments">
            
        <?php comments_template('',true); ?>
        
        </div>

and added it to page.php, and there was severe overlapping going on, so I switched "postcomments" to just the class "comments", and it functions properly, but the sidebar is now horizontally at the level of the top of the comments box.

Just not sure why. Any help you can provide, I'd appreciate.
