Default PLUGINS: "an unknown error has occurred" + solution

I came across this issue when attempting to search for new plugins through the native Wordpress plugins directory.

THE PROBLEM: This error occurred because I added the Meta tag for Google webmaster central in the Header script setting of Genesis theme settings.

THE FIX: Remove the meta tag for Google webmaster central. Upload the HTML verification file from Google webmaster central instead.

NOTE: Google Analytics works just fine.
