I came across this issue when attempting to search for new plugins through the native Wordpress plugins directory.
THE PROBLEM: THE FIX: Remove the meta tag for Google webmaster central. Upload the HTML verification file from Google webmaster central instead. NOTE: Google Analytics works just fine.
