Membership Plugin

Can anyone recommend a good program or plugin that will make a site "members only"? It doesn't have to be CIA quality, but reliable and secure and fairly anti-hackable. I want something that will require a permanent email address (not disposable) for registration, and that will require users to sign in to view any content on the site.

Also, I'm still waiting for someone to tell me how to make subcategories in a dropdown menu stay in a particular numerical order. I posted a few days ago but haven't received a response.
