Newbie Question About Archiving

Hi,

I've decided to try the "WordPress as CMS" thing, and I'm fairly new to WP after using Joomla a lot. I'm going to set up a site using categories, which will make it easy to post things like press releases, etc. But I won't have that many entries, so I will want many of them to stay up for several months before being archived or deleted.

What I don't know is...does WP automatically archive posts after a certain month (or other time period)? (I don't want that.) Or does it simply move the oldest post to the archives once the max number of posts on the category page has been reached?

I know this is a very basic question, but I can't find a definitive answer for it anywhere. I just want to make sure that my posts aren't going to start disappearing from the page where they're supposed to remain for a while.
