I have an established Wordpress blog and am trying to be smart about a possbile design switch. The Genesis framework/child theme approach looks like it might solve many of my current design/organization issues but I have questions before purchasing.

Basically, I want to know if I'm able to completely replace the header masthead with something of my own design (not just the type);

I see that Fashionista and Lifestyle themes both allow three featured categories with excerpts on the homepage (something I need). Can I add additional categories in the same fashion on the HP?

Also do all of your themes allow full-width photos in layouts?

Finally, are there any limitations in the Genesis framework to the Wordpress widgets and plugins I want to use? I like the ones I currently have in place.
