Default Genesis framework and SSL

I'm beginning work on a payment gateway for an e-commerce plugin. My site is using the Genesis framework and Enterprise theme.

The plugin provider suggests two options. The first is using merchant accounts with their own secure sites (example: Paypal Standard) The second is using a service that processes data from your forms (example: authorize.net). In the latter example a SSL is recommended to ensure the user doesn't get any negative messages (site not trusted stuff).

My question: Can someone give me some insight and/or direction into how SSLs integrate with the Genesis hosting and framework?

I checked the various Synthesis hosting plans available and none indicate SSL as included (we have the starter pack). A quick search of this forum didn't provide any posts with SSL, which I think is odd. Likewise nothing came up in the beginners docs for Genesis or a Google search.

Lon
