Default Is there a way to make post titles unclickable?

I don't need people to be able to click open individual posts in a certain category.

If they do click open an individual post, they see the "Primary Sidebar Widget Area" placeholder, and I don't want that. Nor do I want my client to have to remember to change each post to full-width.

So....I think my choices are:

1) make the titles unlinkable
2) remove the Primary Sidebar Widget Area placeholder behavior.
3) figure a way for individual posts to inherit the sidebar widgets from the category.

Right? I don't know how to do any of these things! Are any of them within my reach as a Wordpress newbie?
