Can you add widgets to internal pages

Hi,
I am currently building a site on Enterprise and want to add featured page widgets to our products page (an internal page) so that I have 6 widgets on a page which when clicked on they are taken through to said product. I tried to create the home page as a template, but then lost the homepage so quickly reverted back.

My site is www.unitednetworkssw.co.uk

Also I have see lots of read more buttons in the Showcase pages. How do you get these?
