Custom Post Type tutorials

Hey everyone,
I'm a little new to the whole Custom Post Type ability in WordPress and I'm just looking for some tutorials on how to get started. I know there are some plugins that will help, but I'd rather figure out how to do best do this so that it works well with Genesis. I've searched the forums and found some info, but most of it is beyond the starting point. All help is greatly appreciated!
