404 / redundant footer image

Strange call.

I asked this before, but I still feel it needs addressing.

I have the following location causing a 404/delay

wp-content/themes/genesis/images/footer-top.png

I have a child theme, and the documentation says not to mess about in the Genesis theme....however, can I go to this Genesis theme file and remove this image?
